FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Proper Footwear: Flat-soled skate shoes (like Vans, Converse, or DC) provide the best grip and board feel. No sandals, flip-flops, or heavy boots.
Comfortable Clothing: Clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty or torn. Stretchy or loose pants (like cargo pants or relaxed jeans) and a t-shirt work best.
Water Bottle: Skateboarding is a full-body workout. Stay hydrated!
1. What will the first lesson look like?
The first lesson focuses entirely on fundamentals and safety. You will learn:
Your stance (Goofy vs. Regular—which foot goes forward).
How to properly stand on the board and keep your balance.
How to push, roll, and safely step off (or fall) without injuring yourself.
Absolutely. Most introductory lessons assume you have zero prior experience. Coaches will start you on flat, smooth ground (often on grass or a rubber mat first) before moving onto concrete or ramps.
3. How long is a typical lesson?
Lessons usually run for 60 minutes. Skateboarding requires intense physical exertion and mental focus.
4. Can parents watch?
Yes! Please be mindful and watch from the designated viewing area or out of the way. However, it’s usually best to give the student and coach some space so the student can focus without distractions.
